Toyota has just officially unveiled the all-new Land Cruiser Prado. This time the model is really new, not a variant of another restyling. I must say, Toyota managed to surprise: the model has two different variants of the front end design.
The classic Land Cruisers of the 60s and 70s had round headlights and rectangular headlights. And the new Land Cruiser Prado 2024 (generation received the designation J250) has two variants: the base version with the designation 1958 and the top First Edition received round headlights, and the “middle” configurations have rectangular headlights, in the style of FJ62. Land Cruiser Prado 1958 has unpainted grille – in case of emergency it will be cheaper to replace or repair than painted grille of more expensive versions.
At the rear, there is no transverse light strip, as in many modern crossovers and SUVs: here, the two lights are dispersed strictly at the corners of the body. The spare tire is fixed at the bottom behind the rear bumper, the rear door is no longer made of two halves – it is monolithic (but the glass can be opened separately from the door).
Land Cruiser Prado 2024 is built on the platform of Lexus GX and Land Cruiser 300, but, unlike them, the J250 does not receive a 3.4-liter V6 engine. In the top version, the newcomer has a power plant I-Force Max with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and 48-horsepower electric motor, integrated into an 8-speed “automatic”. In total – 326 hp.

Ground clearance of Land Cruiser Prado 2024 is 220 mm, angles of entry and exit, respectively, 31° and 22°. Many of the most important components of the SUV are hidden in the frame members. All Land Cruiser J250 will receive an electronic system of low-speed driving with special settings of brake and gas pedals for overcoming serious obstacles and descending from steep slopes. Top-end versions feature Multi-Terrain Select and Multi-Terrain Monitor systems
Land Cruiser Prado 2024 has a completely new interior, materials of finishing became better. Thus, for example, the upper part of the front panel is decorated with soft plastic, and in the lower part of the plastic, although hard, but with rubberized coating.
Land Cruiser 1958 (that is in the base) has fabric interior, heated front seats and steering wheel. In the middle configuration the interior is made of eco-leather, and the front seats are not only heated, but also ventilated. The top version has genuine leather seats.
All Land Cruiser Prado 2024 has adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring system and a number of other driver assistance systems. The basic version has a media system with an 8-inch screen, while the more expensive versions have a 12.3-inch screen.
Exact prices are not yet available, it is reported only that the Land Cruiser 1958 will cost about 55 thousand dollars – and it is cheap. However, competitors in the face of Land Rover Defender 110 and Ford Bronco Badlands in the U.S. cost about the same. The novelty should appear at dealers in the USA by the end of the year.
