Unlocking the tailgate from the passenger compartment – Outlander XL Owner’s Manual
The trunk door can be unlocked from the passenger compartment in case the battery is discharged using the unlocking mechanism. The release lever is integrated into the tailgate.
Familiarize yourself with the location and how to use this mechanism and make sure your family members are familiar with it.
Opening the tailgate
- Open the cover (A) on the inside of the tailgate.
- Move the lever (B) up to unlock the tailgate.
- Open the top of the trunk door.
- Slowly lower the bottom of the tailgate.
Caution
Always keep the unlocking mechanism cover (A) closed, as moving objects while driving could accidentally move the mechanism lever and unlock the lock, which could cause the tailgate to open.
