The vehicles of the revived MAYBACH brand are not independent – in fact, they are the most luxurious Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which have exactly the same VIN structure as the other vehicles manufactured by Daimler AG. Maybach cars have a different VIN structure for the European and North American markets. The easiest way to tell them apart is to look at the 4th digit of the code. If it is a number “2” – the car is designed for the European market; if it is a letter (currently “V”) – for the North American market. In the latter case, 100% compliance with the requirements of the standard is ensured. Maybach VINs for the European market does not contain information on the year of manufacture. This can be found on this page on checking the VIN of Mercedes-Benz cars together with the full 17-digit VIN. But please note that this is the date of shipment to the dealer and not the date of manufacture.
